This Policy addresses Booz Allen’s use of “Cookies” & Similar Technologies and describes the different types of cookies and similar technologies used on www.boozallen.com websites (“Sites”).
Cookies are small text files placed on your device to store data that can be recalled by a web server that placed the cookie. This data often consists of a string of numbers and letters that uniquely identifies your computer, but it can contain other information as well. We use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar technologies to store and honor your website-related preferences and settings, enable you to sign-in, provide interest-based advertising, keep us informed of which areas of the Site are most useful, as well as which areas need improvement. Cookies and other web technologies are also used to facilitate website navigation, optimize technical architecture, enhance the Site with new features and capabilities, customize website content based on previous activity, such as pages clicked and emails opened, and fulfill other legitimate purposes described below. Some Booz Allen Sites and mobile applications also contain web beacons, pixel tags or other similar technologies, as described below.
Web Beacons
Some Booz Allen web pages contain electronic tags known as “web beacons” that are used to help deliver cookies on our Sites and count users who have visited those Sites. Web beacons or similar technologies might also be included in our electronic communications (e.g., emails) to determine whether you open and act on them.
In addition to placing web beacons on our own Sites, we sometimes work with other companies to place our web beacons on their websites when they publish Booz Allen content so that we can understand engagement with that content.
Pixels/Tags
Pixels or tags (also known as web beacons and clear GIFs) are used to, among other things, track the actions of Site visitors, measure the success of our marketing campaigns, and compile statistics about usage of the Sites and response rates.
Browser or Device Information
Certain information is collected by most browsers or automatically through your device, such as the Media Access Control (MAC) address, computer type (e.g., Windows or Mac), screen resolution, operating system name and version, device manufacturer and model, language, internet browser type and version, and the name and version of the Site you are using. Third-party analytics services, like Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics, record this data to ensure that the Sites function properly on all devices and for other purposes, such as to gain insights into visitors’ technology preferences.
Physical Location
Our servers may collect the physical location of your device by, for example, using satellite, cell phone tower, and/or WiFi signals. This data might be used to provide you with location-based services and content.
We also might share your device’s physical location, combined with information about what advertisements you viewed, with our marketing partners to enable them to provide you with more personalized content and to evaluate the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. You can enable or disable the detection of your device’s location using your device’s settings.
Device Fingerprinting
We may also use other technologies that are similar to cookies for various reasons, including to offer content tailored to a Site visitor’s prior online activity, for authentication purposes, or to mitigate the risk of fraud. For example, our servers might gather information about the attributes of a device and combine that information with information collected by browsers as indicated above, to create a unique ID that identifies the browser or device being used by a Site visitor.
Information Collected
Our servers have the ability to collect, use, and combine the following information:
Booz Allen uses cookies and similar technologies for several purposes, depending on the context, including:
Consent to Use Cookies
If you are a resident of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, or the United Kingdom or any other country where the data protection laws require cookie consent, we ask for your consent prior to placing or using cookies that are not strictly necessary to operate the webpage.
Cookie Consent Banner
We give you an easy way to indicate your consent preferences with regards to our cookies. While strictly necessary cookies cannot be opted-out of, because they enable the Site to run at a basic level, you can use the cookie banner at the bottom of our page to opt-out of our performance, functional, and/or targeting cookies. For Site visitors in the EEA, Switzerland, or UK, you can choose to opt-in to cookies, by category, using the same banner.
Third Party Technologies
Some cookies and other technologies are placed by third parties acting on our behalf. For example:
These third parties use the data they process in line with their own privacy policies, which may enable them to collect and combine information about your activities across websites, mobile apps, or online services.
Cookie Categories
Cookies can be categorized or described in three ways:
1. Ownership /Placement
First party cookies are owned and placed by Booz Allen. Third Party cookies are cookies placed on our Sites by third parties acting on our behalf. Booz Allen has both types on the Sites.
2. Duration
Cookies are set to store information for the amount of time you are accessing the Site – called session cookies or for a longer period – called persistent cookies.
3. Purpose Group
Cookies are categorized into groups by the purpose they achieve. We group cookies into 4 categories:
1. Strictly Necessary – These cookies are required to enable our Sites to function. For example, these cookies allow visitors to log in or save their language preferences. Other strictly necessary cookies improve website performance, route traffic between web servers, detect the size of a device screen (for optimizing the visibility of website content), determine page load times, and measure audiences. These cookies are all necessary for our Sites to work and cannot be opted-out of or disabled.
2. Functional Cookies – Functionality cookies allow our Sites to remember the user's website preferences and choices they make on the website including login details, geo-location, language, and enhanced content.
3. Performance Cookies – These cookies, also known as analytics cookies, collect data on how users interact with a website and trends. This data can include page visits, time spent on the site, errors, bounce rates, and loading speeds. For example, we may use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about Site usage and to report to us on activities and trends. Google Analytics might also collect information regarding use of other (non-Booz Allen) websites, apps and online resources. You can learn about Google’s practices on their webpage and in their policies. Google may offer tools, such as browser add-ons, to further help you navigate the way you interact with Google technologies.
4. Targeting Cookies – These cookies enable advertising and can include interest-based advertising and enable social media connectivity. We, and third parties, use cookies to record which ads have already been seen to make sure a Site visitor does not see the same ads repetitively. These cookies are also used to track which ads you click on so that we can pay our partners, and to show you ads that are more relevant to you. For example, they are used to detect when you click on an ad and show you ads based on your social media interests and website browsing history. We and third parties also use social media cookies to display ads and content based on people’s social media profiles and activity on our websites. Cookies are used to connect website activity on our Sites to social media profiles, so the ads and content seen on our Sites and on social media platforms will better reflect people’s interests.
These cookies may be used on the Sites depending on the context, service or product, and your settings and permissions. You can opt out of, or opt into, cookie purpose groups depending on the data protection laws of your location.

We may change this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our data collection and processing practices and/or applicable laws. Changes will become effective when we post the revised version on this Website. Thus, we recommend checking here from time to time.
